Shane Richie, 56, admitted that he was “relying” on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 co-star Hollie Arnold to win 12 stars tonight, as the pair took on the Wicked Waterways challenge. The EastEnders actor playfully teased that the Paralympian shouldn’t place too much “responsibility” upon him, after she expressed relief that he would be helping her in the Bushtucker Trial.

I’m relying on you!

In response to Hollie’s praise of him, Shane quipped: “Stop with the responsibility, you’re a Paralympic gold champion, I’m relying on you tonight!”

The trial consisted of two tunnels, one on top of the other. The duo had to use a single bucket and worked as a team to transfer water through the tunnels and into the collection pipes.

Once they had enough water in the collection pipes, the stars would float up and they could collect them.

Only stars in their star bag at the end of time counted, with six stars up for grabs, each worth two meals for camp.

They were told as time went on the trial would get harder, that it would last 12 minutes and that they would not be alone in the tunnels.

Shane went into the top tunnel to collect the water, Hollie the lower tunnel to collect the bucket and pour it into the pipes.

The pair kept talking to each other as they worked out how to get the bucket to each other.

Hollie exclaimed: “Let’s go Shane, come on Shane let’s go, we’ve got this! Just keep filling it [the bucket] as much as possible. Hurry up, I haven’t got all day!”

The bucket’s chain caused the pair issues by getting caught, as well as water spillages.

As Shane’s trousers got pulled lower during the trial, Dec joked: “Alfie’s moon.”

Hollie: “It was tough.”

Shane: “We made it tougher.”

The pair got two stars, totalling four meals for camp.

Shane said: “We set a precedent, this is the first one when we’ve kind of dropped the ball.”

It comes as Shane had sat with Victoria Derbyshire and discussed his time on EastEnders.

The soap star revealed that at the time of the audition process for the show he was completely “bankrupt” and selling his home because of a film he invested in.

Shane divulged: “So I kept coming back [to audition] but still no no idea what was going on.

“So we go on holiday, I’m bankrupt because of this film I’d invested in, I’ve got nothing, I’m selling the house, no work.

“The phone goes and it’s my manager and he goes EastEnders want you.

“I started getting teary and he [the producer] told me about this character called Alfie Moon and in my first episode. I’d be coming in and taking over The Queen Vic, I started crying,” he added.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV.
