Shane Warne vowed to live life less on edge before sudden death aged 52

Shane Warne vowed to "live less of my life on the edge" before his sudden death at the age of 52.

The Australian cricket legend passed away of a suspected heart attack before being found unresponsive in his room at the luxury Samujana Villa resort in Koh Samui, Thailand, on Friday 4 March.

Deputy spokesperson of the Thai police, Kritsana Pattanacharoen, said the autopsy report had concluded that Warne had a “natural death”.

But not long before Shane's devastating death, he had revealed he was set to lead a more private life and recalled what a "good relationship" looked like with his ex fiancée Liz Hurley.

The star, who is dad to Brooke, 24, and Jackson, 23, and Summer, 20, wrote in his autobiography: "For most of my life I didn't consider consequences. But as a father of three grown-up children I sure have to now, otherwise their maturity will go past mine.

"So I'm going to keep things to myself a lot more and live less of my life on the edge."

Shane, whose ex-wife Simone Callahan recently shared unseen snaps and clips of him in tribute, went on to reflect on his romance with Liz, 56, who is mum to son Damian, 19.

The pair were together for three years before deciding to call it quits, but remained good friends with even their kids remaining in contact.

"The truth is that I want to share a life with a wonderful woman, not be a lonely old b** turning up on news bulletins here and there," Shane shared in his book.

He continued: "The more I think back to my time with Elizabeth, the more I reflect on how rewarding a good relationship is.

"I can think of nothing better than being in a strong relationship and caring for each other."

Shane also said that being with the Bedazzled actress was like "a bit of magic" and added: "I'll always care about her and would be there if she needed me. We had something very special.

"I regret none of it and now have a special friend forever. Who knows what the future holds?"

Following the news of Shane's death, Liz took to her Instagram feed to share a series of photos of them together on the beach.

She captioned the post: "I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart @shanewarne23".

Liz later sent a touching message to Shane's youngest, Summer, who had shared a heartbreaking post dedicated to her father. Liz wrote: "I love you, Summer. Your daddy worshipped you," followed by a red heart emoji.

Appreciating the gesture, Summer responded: "@elizabethhurley1 love u so much," with a red heart emoji.
