Helen Skelton presents BBC’s Morning live in stripy green outfit
Helen Skelton fought back tears as she announced she was leaving BBC Radio 5 Live this morning due to the “juggle” involved, just days after it was claimed she had been “rapped” by the broadcaster.
The emotional presenter told listeners she was stepping down from her role after a year of hosting a Sunday slot.
She said the broadcast would be her last one and gave an emotional goodbye on-air.
Last week The Mirror reported that the 40-year-old had gotten into trouble and had since removed tags on social media for the clothes and jewellery brands she had worn while filming Morning Live.
By promoting the brands, Helen could have been in breach of the BBC’s Editorial Guidelines which state: “No on-air talent should promote products, goods, services or clothing they use on air.

“On-air talent, in any genre, engaged by the BBC must not accept clothing or products free, or at considerably reduced cost, in exchange for wearing or using them on air.
“Nor should they appear on air wearing clothes or using products, goods or services which they have agreed, or been contracted, to promote or in which they have any financial interest.”
In response to the report, a BBC spokesperson insisted Helen had not breached the broadcaster’s guidelines.
They told Express.co.uk: “Helen pays for the clothes she wears on the show and does not have relationships with the brands tagged.

“She has now removed brand mentions from social posts linked to the programme.”
Express.co.uk contacted Helen Skelton’s representative for comment at the time.
Meanwhile, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant has since admitted she has been struggling to juggle commitments.
Speaking to co-host Lloyd Griffith, she said: “You’re emotional because I’m leaving.”
He agreed before asking her how she was feeling. Her voice breaking, Helen replied: “I am not alright about it but, you know, needs must. The juggle is real.
“There is an eight-year-old with a sideline who needs me.”
Helen shares three children with ex Richie Myler, 33 – sons Ernie and Louis as well as daughter Elsie.
She later added: “I’ve loved every minute of the past year… thank you to all the team and thank you to all of you.
“It’s hard to know what to say without getting emotional.”
