This Morning in talks to give Josie Gibson more permanent role after Holly stand-in

After a successful few days on the This Morning sofa recently hosting alongside Phillip Schofield, show bosses are reportedly trying to give Josie Gibson a more permanent role on the show.

The former Big Brother winner filled in for Holly Willoughby in recent weeks while she was off sick for a few days.

While Holly is now back at work after her absence, an insider reportedly told Heat Magazine that she was “concerned” how “easily” someone else had replaced her on prime time morning television.

The source told Heat: “Holly has been really open with show bosses about wanting to try new things, and while she will always be loyal to This Morning, she’s not sure what the future holds.”

The same source reports that there is talk of Josie – who presents the competition segments on the show – getting a more permanent role.

Josie, 36, took to Instagram to celebrate her triumphant three days of hosting, that led many fans to call her “a natural” as she often left fans in hysterics, while others related to her down to earth nature.

Along with a snap of herself with co-host Phillip Schofield, Josie penned: “What a surreal week it’s been!!!! Three days of presenting one of the biggest daytimes TV shows of all time @thismorning.”

"I've got to give it up for this hero @Schofe you have been my rock this week. Not only have you presented the show but you've had to teach me along the way."

She added: "Sorry about all the slip ups, you and @hollywilloughby and all of our presenters make it look effortlessly easy. You have made me laugh so much especially in the make up room.

"Thank you for being there for me, thank you for being so gentle, warm and kind and thank you for being so bloody hilarious!! Love you Schofe, what a legend!"

The star's celebrity friends and fans flooded her post with support with many suggesting she should take up regular presenting work.

Love Island’s Laura Anderson wrote: “Well done superstar. Hard work pays off but remember likeability is unteachable #yougotthis.”

Fellow presenter and Loose Women legend, Ruth Langsford added: “Well done Josie… you’re a natural!”

One user gushed: “You were amazing such a lovely lady! Loved watching you, definitely should be a regular presenter.”

Another said: “Have enjoyed watching you Josie, you’re a natural and so down to earth. Hope you return soon.”

Many viewers of the hit ITV morning show commented that they would “love to see more” of Josie regularly on the show. One fan even suggested: “maybe you could replace Dermot and do a duo with Alison on a Friday?”

Holly too praised her temporary replacement by saying that Josie did a “brilliant job.”
