Appearing on her husband’s first video for his new YouTube series called Mike Drop, 41 year old Zara, who recently enjoyed a loved-up day at the races, became teary-eyed after being questioned about her silver medal winning performance at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

As part of the episode, in which 44 year old Mike promotes the Australian equestrian event Magic Millions,Princess Anne ’s daughter opened up about how emotional she felt scooping second place in the equestrian event alongside her horse High Kingdom.

“We managed to get him [High Kingdom] to the Olympics, which was incredible,” she said. “Trev – Trevor Hemmings [the horse's owner] – has won so many amazing things in his racing career and Grand Nationals and things like that.”

She added: “But to see his face at the Olympics and to get that team medal was amazing. And to be able to give something back to him when he had supported me for so long was incredible. I'm going to get emotional!”

As his wife of 11 years shed a tear, doting husband Mike offered Zara a few words of support.

“I think that sums you up. You always put your owners and your horses first, sometimes at the detriment to yourself,” he said.

“You will train a horse before you train yourself and you will make sure the horse is right before you do it to yourself.”

But besides touching on her success in the sporting world, mum-of-three Zara also opened up about feeling “guilty” about juggling her work alongsideraising nine year old Mia, Lena, four, and one year old Lucas.

“I found it hard getting myself back to it. Mentally, you feel guilty as a mother leaving your child to go and do something else,” she said when talking about getting back into the sport.

This isn’t the first time that a member of the royal family has been candid about the reality of being a working parent.

In fact,Kate Middleton has previouslyopened up about how she manages to balance being working royal while also making sure that she is on hand to support Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast in 2020, the Princess of Wales admitted to struggling like any other mother and confessed to suffering from “mum guilt”.

She said: “Even this morning… George and Charlotte were like, 'Mummy, how could you possibly not be dropping us off at school this morning?'

“It's a constant challenge – you hear it time and time again from mums, even mums who aren't necessarily working and aren't pulled in the directions of having to juggle work life and family life.”
