Since its inception in 1987, French clothing label A.P.C. has regularly called upon London’s Liberty Fabrics for the poetic textiles in its collections. Now, after 35 years of collaboration, the Jean Touitou-founded label has made a full collection exclusively with the premium mill, under the moniker “Interaction #18.”
In recent years, the fabric-making imprint has taken its technical production properties up a notch. Known for using both innovative technology and age-old techniques alike, Liberty’s cutting-edge offerings include viscose-like silk twill, technical nylon, military-style cotton ripstop and polyester jersey, among many others. For this collaboration, the A.P.C. studio made its classic shapes oversized, inspired by the “modernity” of Liberty’s textiles.
Shirts, shirt-dresses, overshirts, elasticated shorts and trousers now appear large-and-in-charge, spotlighting the bold prints emblazoned across each of Liberty’s selected fabrics. Many ensembles offer coordinated pairings, with signature hats and accessories made from identical materials, too.
A.P.C. worked with Liberty’s studio to make new colorways that matched the House’s aesthetic. Among them, the duo crafted black and white dragon motifs, interlocking characters on khaki camouflage, massive paisley illustrations, big flower designs and several of the brand’s signature, youthful graphics. If clothing wasn’t enough, the collaboration also includes placemats and napkins, for a maximal dining-room transformation.
