Amy Winehouse biopic spotted filming at the late star's real Camden home

Marisa Abela and Eddie Marsan have been spotted filming the new Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black at the late singer’s real Camden home.

Industry actress Marisa, 26, landed the role of a lifetime when she was cast as the late jazz singer in the upcoming film about her life and career in London.

Eddie, 54, was cast alongside Marisa in the biopic as Winehouse’s father, Mitch, who played a huge part in the singer’s personal and professional life.

Now, in the most recent update on filming, both actors have been spotted outside the Camden house where the You Know I’m No Good singer’s body was found after she died of alcohol poisoning at age 27 in 2011.

Stepping out of the north London house, Marisa donned a slightly smaller beehive hair-do than in previous snaps of the star posed as the jazz legend.

In addition to the famous bee-hive, Marisa wore a blonde streak in her hair, a pair of washed-out jeans, and a unique blue top.

Meanwhile, Eddie wore a plain navy top to portray Mitch, who has since admitted he was disappointed George Clooney wasn’t cast as him in the biopic.

Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the film will document Winehouse’s ‘vibrant’ London life around Soho and Camden in the years leading up to her untimely death.

After 2015 documentary Amy, about the singer’s life, portrayed her father Mitch in an unfavourable light, the 72-year-old has spoken out in support of the upcoming biopic.

And while many criticised the casting of Marisa, saying she doesn’t look anything like the late star, Mitch told TMZ she was a ‘great choice for the role, even if she doesn’t look exactly like Amy’.

Marisa, whose biggest role to date is as graduate banker Yasmin Yazdani in the BBC’s drama Industry, has previously opened up about losing weight to portray the troubled star.

Chatting on the Before The Lights podcast to hosts George Ashwell, Dave Hastie, and Josh Betteridge, the personal trainers working with her on the role, the actor said: ‘I went to an all-girls school in Brighton and it was brutal… this really toxic environment, and it definitely seeped into how I felt about myself.

‘I was anticipating [training for the role] being quite difficult in terms of maybe thinking, “This is how I should look when I’m at my skinniest”.

‘But actually, it’s the opposite’, said the star. ‘I almost see my body as a true instrument that I’m training for a job.’

Skins star Jack O’Connell will play Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, and Mrs Harris Goes to Paris actor Lesley Manville will play the star’s grandmother.

The film’s release date has not yet been confirmed.
