Black Eyed Peas tease 'surprise guest' for Brighton Pride after Britney rumours

Will.i.am has teased some surprise special guests as the Black Eyed Peas prepare to take to the stage for Brighton Pride.

The group – comprising of will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo – are leading a major line-up of acts at this year’s Pride early in August, and look set to bring in some big surprises.

Brighton Pride is renowned for having some of the biggest LGBTQ+ acts and allies stunning crowds, including the likes of Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue and Christina Aguilera in previous years.

Will has now teased that the ‘amazing show’ will feature ‘special guests’ – but is keeping quiet on who.

He told Metro.co.uk: ‘It’s going to be an amazing show, to crank up the festival party atmosphere. Look for a mix of our top global hits, and some newer tracks from Translation and Evolution.

‘Yes, we do love bringing on special guests, but if we told you then it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it?’

It comes as rumours abound the rapper is gearing up to collaborate with the legendary Britney more than a decade after they teamed up for megahit Scream and Shout.

A source told The Sun the pair are preparing to launch another musical comeback for Britney after her collab with Sir Elton John, as the duo ‘have a huge amount of love and respect for each other and really trust each other’s musical judgement.’

‘Both of them are excited to be releasing this surprise track and they know fans will love it.’

Of course, we’ve been hurt before, as fans were certain Britney was going to appear on stage with Sir Elton at Glastonbury 2023 – but it was not to be.

But still… we’re ready to hope again.

There are several other major names who could be one of Will’s secret ‘special guests’ however – Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger is believed to be in London rehearsing for her West End show, and as far as we know doesn’t have anything in her diary for the Pride date.

The Pussycat Dolls had also been due to perform at Brighton Pride in 2020, but this was cancelled due to… well, you can guess.

There’s also the always-amazing Anne-Marie, Will’s fellow The Voice coach, who have previously said they would love to perform together.

We do love a rumour mill, but while we won’t know for sure until the performance itself, there’s not long to wait, as the major celebration takes place next month.

Black Eyed Peas rang in 2023 facing backlash from politicians in Poland as they supported the LGBTQ+ community by wearing rainbow armbands during their New Year’s Eve performance.

While homosexuality is legal in Poland, and has been since 1932, the community continue to face challenges. According to ILGA-Europe’s 2022 report, the status of LGBTQ+ rights in Poland is the worst among European Union countries.

Standing in solidarity with queer fans, Black Eyed Pease donned rainbow armbands while on stage as the headlining act at the New Year’s Eve of Dreams show, sparking outrage among the ruling PiS party politicians.

Will took no notice, and later said in a video that Where Is the Love? was dedicated ‘to unity’ as he specifically named marginalised communities.

‘We are the Black Eyed Peas, or you can say Black Eyed Peace, because we are for peace, equality, harmony. We are not the Black Eyed PiS,’ he said, directly calling out the ruling party. ‘We stand for unity, love, tolerance, oneness.’

Black Eyed Peas will perform at Brighton Pride – with some surprise guests – on August 5.
