Following its inaugural menswear collection that made its debut in November of 2021, ERDEM returns with a Fall/Winter 2022 collection that exhibits whimsical poise. Erdem Moralioglu’s eponymous label is characterized by its presentation of expression and art-based inspiration, something that remains true with its second menswear offering.
For FW22, the London-based label was inspired by 20th-century photographers, Dora Kallmus a.k.a. Madame d’Ora and Yevonde Middleton a.k.a. Madame Yevonde. Specifically, the collection looks to the photographers’ 1930s work that emphasized elevated color experimentation and capturing personality. Featuring outerwear, knitwear, tailoring, pants and more, the collection is brought to life through an array of fabrics and rich colors. Men’s tailoring consists of wide, peaked lapel suits in dark gray and embroidered cotton drill suits with multicolored floral designs reminiscent of botanical photogram techniques. Overcoats serve as a collection highlight with bouclé wool and brushed alpaca fabrics in rust and pale yellow.
Collection knitwear features cardigan, turtleneck and crewneck mohair cashmere sweaters washed in murky yellow, checked brown and peacock blue, peppered camel and more. For an elevated casual look, knitwear and poplin shirts are paired with corduroy pants in bold colors like sea moss green and mustard with matching cummerbunds.
