Though it’s bereft of The North Face or adidas collaborations, HYKE‘s Fall/Winter 2021 collection remains an attractive proposition, sidelining minimalist garments with the diverse design influences that its founders first discovered when they developed a love for vintage garments back in the ’90s. High-tech outerwear co-mingles with deconstructed knitwear, elements of refined tailoring and rugged militaria, finding unity in relaxed silhouettes and a muted color palette that has become HYKE’s signature.
As usual, HYKE FW21 is comprised entirely of womenswear garments, but a variety of items are cut loose enough to essentially become genderless. Take, for instances, the oversized weatherproof windbreakers and parkas, part of HYKE’s ongoing in-line experiments with Pertex textiles. Utility belts inspired by climbing gear, tearaway pants, pointed hiking boots and quilted layers informed by cold weather military outerwear reiterate an outdoorsy motif, contrasting with the delicate comfort offered by pile fleece coats, fringed knit vests and oversized cowichan sweaters.
Check out the brand’s goods up close via HYKE’s website and select stockists, which are receiving Spring/Summer 2021 items for the next few weeks.
