Mr. Saturday's FW21 "Both Directions at Once’’ Collection Revealed

NYFW is here, and emerging brands are seizing this opportunity to put their best foot forward and flaunt what they’ve got in the chamber for FW21. One of the entities that took the liberty of hitting the digital runways this year is Mr. Saturday who has just unveiled its newest capsule entitled “BOTH DIRECTIONS AT ONCE” which features ready-to-wear-pieces for men and women, jewelry, handbags, and footwear.

For this latest capsule, founder Joey Gollish explores Evelyn Waugh’s novel Vile Bodies which makes a mockery of rich, youthful folk dubbed “Bright Young Things” who would often party in London during the 1920s post WWI.

The story is communicated here through the oversized and relaxes tailoring of fabric, patchwork aesthetic and graphics which are designed to elicit feelings of nostalgia. Standout pieces from the men’s department include that of the bomber jackets which are made of upcycled materials from World War II, leather trousers, relaxed suiting, puffer jackets and the trench coats. Under the women’s umbrella, Americana silhouettes such as the silk crepe column dresses with removable sleeves, cashmere sets, cotton and down-padded jackets and loose fitting knit pieces take the lead.

Footwear is implemented for the first time ever and is made alongside UK’s very own Sanders. Silhouettes include a creeper loafer furnished with gold embossing that spells out the brand’s signature “GOOD LUCK” phrase across toe box, penny loafers in both black croc and white and all-black schemes as well as a winter boot which comes in both beige and black colorways.

The look book above highlights the entire collection, and you can view the “Both Directions at Once” campaign video here.
