London-based designer Nicholas Daley has reunited with Lavenham, following up the U.K Sound System-themed collection by continuing its music influence. For Spring/Summer 2021, Daley has taken inspiration from reggae legend Peter Tosh, with a particular look at the relationship between music and martial arts during the 1970s.
Exploring this theme, the capsule sees Daley look at Japanese skill and craftsmanship, particularly highlighting the “Sashiko” embroidery technique. The collection particularly focuses on quilting pieces, designed to recall Japanese workwear and martial arts, and including gilets, jackets, a kit bag and a bucket hat.
The Lavenham collaboration is an extension of Daley’s SS21 collection, which focused on a mix between British heritage and Japanese culture. The references to Peter Tosh also see military and martial arts influences incorporated. To launch the capsule, Daley released a series of campaign imageries with long-term collaborator Edward Hick from Sons of Kemet.
In other fashion news, Palace recently linked up with THE NORTH FACE PURPLE LABEL.
