Trail running offers a bushel of unique experiences, from the uneven train under your feet to a sense of wonderment at nature’s beauty. It’s a run and an expedition borne of curiosity all wrapped up into one heart-pumping package, and norda is looking to communicate the extraterrestrial element of that feeling with its new FW23 “ENCOUNTERS” campaign and an accompanying duo of 001 releases.
First is the “Regolith,” a sandy two-tone brown colorway with speckled midsoles that draws its inspiration from the thin layer of dust atop bedrock on both Earth and other planets. Next, the “Mars,” an airy white and black combo that’s grounded by its ombre-fade clay red midsole. Both styles feature hand-painted midsoles that ensure no two pairs are exactly the same — much like no two runs are exactly the same — and are packed full of norda’s elite performance technology. Uppers are made from the brand’s proprietary bio-based Dyneema blend, twice as strong as Kevlar and half the weight, plus Vibram SLE midsoles and outsoles that combine Vibram Litebase and Megagrip tech.
The 001 is one of two shoes in norda’s arsenal: it was originally released in 2021 and features a greater stack height and max cushioning-geared construction, as opposed to the 002, which dropped in May 2023 and was made for a lower-to-the-ground, response-geared ride. Unlike many other brands, which view new models as “replacements” to the previous year’s drop, norda views each shoe as a contrasting tool, hence the continued experiments on its first model.
Both the “Regolith” and the “Mars” are available via the norda webstore now, each priced at $285 USD.
