Of course Keanu Reeves matched his outfit to guitar for Dogstar performance

Keanu Reeves has sent fans into a spin on his return to the stage with Dogstar, more than 20 years after he last performed with the group.

Aside from an incredible screen career, the John Wick actor, 58, showed off his musical talents as part of the rock bank in 1991, until they put things on pause in 2002.

After years of silence, Dogstar recently teased that a return to the spotlight could be on the cards, before popping up at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival on Saturday.

Pictures emerged of Keanu performing in the sunshine alongside bandmates Bret Domrose and Robert Mailhouse, with the trio playing a mix of their old hits, and surprising the crowd with some unreleased new tracks.

Despite this being their first gig in over two decades, the A-Lister seemed in his element in front of the audience, with many noticing that he had actually matched his outfit – consisting of a black T-shirt and colorful trousers – to his bass guitar.

Because, of course he did.

Fans were living for the snaps, and flooded social media with praise for Keanu’s performance – and his outfit choice.

‘Keanu Reeves playing bass on a stage in 2023 has altered my brain chemistry forever,’ one said.

‘NOT THE MATCHING BASS AND PANTS HE LOOKS STUNNING,’ a follower yelled.

‘He looks majestic I missed him so much,’ another agreed.

A Twitter user said: ‘The guitar and the pants are on point. Lalala [sic].’

An impressed commenter wrote: ‘Color coordinating his pants with his bass, damn!!!!’

‘Keanu seems so happy! I love how he has matching orange pants to his guitar. Cool lol,’ a YouTube viewer added.

Shedding light on how the performance came around, Keanu revealed that his bandmate, Robert, offered up some much-needed advice before they went on stage.

‘He was just super positive,’ he told the San Francisco Chronicle. ‘He was like, “Listen to the music. Just be present in the song, and it will go from there.”

‘Today was like our first kind of foray out.

‘The band wants to play. We have a record, so we’re just kind of trying to figure out the best way to marry those two things.’

Dogstar was originally made up of Keanu, Robert and Gregg Miller – but the latter eventually left in 1995 and was replaced by Bret.

Some of their biggest tracks include Superstar, Slipping Down, Halo and No Matter What.

Keanu previously reflected on his time with the group in a chat with Billboard, expressing just how much he missed appearing beside Robert and Bret.

‘I missed playing together, I missed writing together, I missed doing shows together. It’s something I’ve always missed,’ he added to the outlet.

‘We came to a spot where we weren’t playing anymore, and I missed it … Once we started to play, and it felt good, and really positive and creative, that’s when it was like, “Okay, let’s make this happen.”

‘I think all three of us just said, “Well, if we’re going to do this, let’s make a record.”’
