Sarah Beeny clarifies what breast cancer 'all clear' actually means

Sarah Beeny has thanked fans for their well wishes following her cancer update.

The TV presenter revealed on Friday (April 14) that she’d been given the all-clear after undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Sarah, 51, first shared her diagnosis in August 2022 and has spoken about losing her own mum to the disease when she was just 10.

She had her final round of chemotherapy earlier this year and celebrated the milestone with Lorraine Kelly, telling the Scottish broadcaster that it was a ‘weird’ feeling.

Taking to Twitter this weekend, the property expert wrote sweetly: ‘Thanks soo much for all your lovely messages of support it genuinely means so much’.

She added that it ‘weirdly’ doesn’t feel so much like she’s had the ‘all clear’, but rather that it’s the ‘end of treatment’.

‘Subtle difference but good to be here either way!!’, she noted.

‘Hope you enjoy new series Mon 8pm @Channel4 !!!’, she concluded, promoting the next instalment of Sarah Beeny’s New Life in the Country, which begins next week.

Showering her with love, one Twitter follower replied: ‘I love the way you’ve worded this. I don’t think it’s ever “all clear” it should be “all clear for now”. End of treatment takes a bit of getting used to. It’s like your safety net has been pulled from underneath you, but it’s a huge milestone. Enjoy!’

‘Congrats on getting to the end of your treatment Sarah, looking forward to the new series, take care x’, wrote another.

‘You look amazing and so thrilled with your fantastic news! All the very best with the new series’, another penned.

In her interview on Lorraine this week, Sarah explained that she’ll still have to take medication.

‘But yeah, it’s been a weird ride that I wouldn’t wish on anyone else, but I’m glad I did it rather than somebody else.’

Sarah also admitted that the past year has been a ‘rollercoaster’.

‘It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but I feel very fortunate I had the diagnosis that I did, and that I live in 2022, ’23, and that I’m the age I am. So many things I’m fortunate for, I feel very blessed,’ she shared.

Sarah, who has sons Rafferty, Laurie, Billy and Charlie with husband Graham Swift, revealed how much her family has helped her through her health battle.

‘It’s been overwhelming how lovely everyone’s been – even you,’ she joked as boys Billy and Rafferty joined her on the show, while Laurie had helped with her new platinum hairstyle.

‘It was their younger brother who did it. It was my blusher brush,’ she laughed.

When it comes to keeping their mum occupied during her treatment, Billy explained: ‘That’s all you really can do, in that situation. That was basically our job, to distract mum.’
