The Chemical Brothers Return With First New Single in Two Years: "No Reason"

The Chemical Brothers on Friday returned with their latest track, “No Reason.” The new cut, which marks the U.K. duo’s first new song since 2021’s “The Darkness That You Fear,” arrives alongside a music video directed by Smith & Lyall, with choreography performed by Gecko Theatre.

The song builds on The Chemical Brothers’ electronic-dance portfolio, with an exhilarating beat featuring funk, bass, percussion and various other musical elements. Notably, “No Reason” will be available on a limited-edition 12” vinyl, which will feature a previously-unreleased B-side, titled “All Of A Sudden.” The record is available for pre-order on the pair’s official webstore now.

The Chemical Romance’s latest release comes just before their Coachella set next month, marking the first of many performances the artists have coming up; also next month, they will play shows in Santa Barbara, California, and Seattle, Washington, before jetting to Europe for a slew of festival sets throughout the summer.

Meanwhile, the dance duo — Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons — are recording their next album, which will follow 2019’s No Geography. That record, which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart, took home the Grammy for best dance/electronic album in 2020. The Chemical Brothers have not revealed further information on their forthcoming album.
