Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet have reportedly joined forces with the original The Holiday cast to film a sequel to the hit Christmas flick 17 years after the first instalment – and fans are in disbelief.
According to reports, the new rom-com is set to continue telling the story of relationships between the star-studded quartet that blossomed towards the end of the first film.
The chance to follow the romances between Cameron, 50, Jude Law, 49, Kate, 47, and Jack Black, 53, again has left some fans whirling with excitement.
Sharing reactions on Twitter, many said their Christmas dreams had already come true and they couldn’t wait to see the famous faces back in action.
One wrote: ‘I just read there will be a sequel of the holiday???? dreams DO come true:’) [sic]’ while another commented: ‘THE HOLIDAY IS GETTING A SEQUEL ????? THIS IS THE BEST NEWS OF THE YEAR !!!!!! idc about Harry styles or tour or anything THE HOLIDAY SEQUEL IS COMING MY WAY [sic]’.
‘The news about The Holiday sequel may be the best news I’ve heard all year!!!,’ one exclaimed.
However, not everyone was thrilled by the news with some fans sharing their distaste at the return of the famous Christmas movie, but negative reactions were few and far between.
One fan pleaded: ‘For any Hollywood exec, writer, director etc even thinking about making a sequel to ‘The Holiday’… LEAVE IT ALONE [sic].’
It comes after a production source told The Sun: ‘The plan is to start filming next year.
‘The main talent are all signed up.

‘The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the UK and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board.’
They continued: ‘It’s one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world – it makes perfect sense to revisit those characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up.
‘It’ll be funny, poignant, and heartwarming – just what everyone wants for Christmas.’
The last film saw Kate and Cameron’s characters take part in a house swap that turned both of their lives upside down and landed them in the laps of two new beaus.
