Swedish imprint J.Lindeberg is in its renaissance period, having presented its Fall/Winter 2022 collection at Stockholm Fashion Week with an entirely new perspective. Dubbed “Dawn of a New Era,” the collection welcomes a resurgence for the brand; something that promises a different aesthetic and introduces a new wave of fashion for the label.
While a sporty undertone trickles through everything it presented, thus connecting the brand to its roots, everything was also elevated. From tailoring in fine Italian wool to technical après ski references, J.Lindeberg ushers in a creative direction that could see it taking over more than just the sportswear world as it continues to up its sartorial codes.
For example, a tan woolen suit has been covered in black detailing, sporadically placed to replicate the coat of a leopard. Cut with darting lapels, pinched under the breast and accented with sealed flap pockets, it’s a bold ensemble that proves J.Lindeberg’s bravery. This energy is matched by the brand’s croc-embossed leather blazer (here expertly paired with a cycling mock turtle neck and shorts in blue), or the womenswear overcoat in black wool that’s layered atop a blue ribbed mock-neck zip-up piece and complementing leggings, once more showcasing the versatility and transformative qualities of traditional tailoring paired with sportswear.
Casualwear like a knitted sweater-vest in cream paired with fucsia pants or the oversized gray suit that’s swamped in a black and red puffer only enhances the new attitude, while plenty of other architectural puffers bring in the brand’s sportswear heritage. Neil Lewty, Head of Design, says, “J.Lindeberg is and has always been about bridging fashion and sport, and we continue to play with that as that way of dressing only becomes more and more relevant. It’s not only a great look, but it also reflects how people live now, moving between different settings and activities.”
Lewty adds, “One of my favorite looks this season is the slipover in bright colors, worn with checked golf pants and a leather coat — taking a tradition and twisting it. I’m imagining a passionate golf player arriving at the golf club and hanging up the leather coat before hitting a perfect drive down the fairway. That’s very much what the J.Lindeberg brand and collections are about: that attitude.”
