Amy Schumer Revealed She’s Undergoing IVF

Amy Schumer announced that she's starting IVF treatments — and she's calling on fans for advice.

In a post on Instagram on Thursday, Schumer shared, "I’m a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional. If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with me please do."

Schumer also shared a phone number in her Instagram bio, writing, "We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling."

IVF, or in vitro fertilization, is a process of fertilization where an egg is combined with sperm outside the body. According to the Mayo Clinic, it's the most effective form of assisted reproductive technology, and can be a treatment for infertility or genetic problems.

Schumer and husband Chris Fischer welcomed their first child together, a son named Gene, last May. Last month, she shared a photo from the day she gave birth in her 2019 roundup, writing, "It was a very good year."

Last year, Schumer told People that while giving birth was an unforgettable experience, it was also "terrifying."

"Giving birth is the most terrifying thing you’ll ever do that’s completely worth it," she said. "Having a c-section was … my pregnancy was so hard, I was just very ready to meet my son."

During her pregnancy, Schumer was hospitalized with hyperemesis gravidarum, an extreme form of morning sickness that Kate Middleton also suffered from throughout all three of her pregnancies.

And while we're sure she's not hoping for a repeat experience, she and Fischer seem to be excited to give their son a new sibling.
