Biggest bridezillas exposed – from fattening up bridesmaids to £1k gift demands

When it comes to weddings, everyone wants their big day to go off without a hitch.

But when striving for perfection, these brides took things a little too far.

The lovely ladies turned into bridezillas with their OTT demands.

Some pestered their gifts for hundreds of pounds or pricey gifts.

Meanwhile, others imposed strict rules at their venues.

Check out some of the biggest bridezilla moments ever in our fun round-up below.

Wed you believe it?

Last year, a bride called off her wedding when guests refused to pay £1,200 to attend.

In the Facebook rant, the woman revealed she was fundraising £50,000 for a destination wedding in Aruba.

And to fund this grand occasion, she relied on her friends and family.

The “bridezilla” explained: “I specifically, I mean specifically, asked for cash gifts.

“How could we have our wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding?

“We’d sacrificed so much and only asked each guests for around $1,500 (£1,230).

“We talked to a few people who even promised us more to make our dream come true."

She added: “My maid of honour (who shall not be named) pledged $5,000 (£4,100) with her planning services. We tearfully thanked and accepted.

“My ex’s family offered to contribute $3,000 (£2,500).

“So our request for $1,500 (£1,230) was not out of the ordinary.

“Like, we made it clear – if you couldn’t contribute, you weren’t invited to our exclusive wedding. It’s a once and a lifetime party.”

It’s a miracle eight guests agreed to pay the fee – but the bride was “livid” that more of her pals wouldn’t cough up the goods.

So in a rage, she decided to cancel her big day instead.

Aisle be damned!

A year ago, a bride insisted that all wedding guests give her presents and cards – even if they can’t make it to her big day.

The unnamed woman took to social media to argue that it’s rude not to get presents for newly-wedded couples.

She tweeted: “Also, just an FYI, if you’re invited to a wedding and you can’t attend, you’re still supposed to send a card.

“Especially if you have a BS (bulls***) excuse to miss it.

“Even more so when you’ve known about it for two years…

“If you can’t come to the wedding you still owe them a gift.”

Many disagreed with the bride’s rant – and screenshots of it went viral on Reddit.

On the Wedding Shaming forum, dozens of commenters accused the woman of being materialistic.

One said: said: “You are NOT required to send a card or gift if you're NOT attending.

“Send in your RSVP saying you're not attending is all that's required.

“Anyone who bugs you about not sending a gift has no manners, no class, and is not a true friend!”

And a second argued: “It's an invite, not an invoice.”

Ruling the roost

Back in 2018, a bride was shamed for penning a list of rules for her guests.

Her “wedding coordinator” revealed the woman’s very specific requirements, which led to her being slammed.

Attendees were warned not to wear their hair down and told to avoid heavy makeup looks.

They were also told to share pictures from the big day, but not until they were instructed to do so.

Bizarrely, guests were warned to avoid talking to the bride at the wedding.

And to top it all off, they were told they would be denied entry into the event if they didn’t bring a £55 gift for the newlyweds.

Unsurprisingly, attendees were pretty bemused by the strict rules.

When a picture of the post went viral online, it was soon flooded with comments.

Many poked fun at the "bridezilla", urging friends and family to break the regulations as revenge.

You’re kidding

On Facebook, a woman asked for advice on banning her step daughter from her wedding.

She wrote: “How do I tell my fiancé I don’t want his daughter at our wedding?”

The bride added: “I put ‘no kids’ on the invites so I thought he’d get the point, but he keeps mentioning her being there?

“I’m marrying him not his crotch goblin. That’s his mistake, not mine.

“I don’t want her there because she’s needy asf and makes everything about her and I said no f***ing kids.”

Her rant wasn’t met with much helpful advice – with hundreds of people strongly suggesting the groom cancel the wedding.

One person wrote: “I don’t want kids but this bridezilla is disgusting.”

Another commented: “Why marry someone with kids if you don’t like kids?”

And a third added: “Ugh what a b****.”

Sibling rivalry

Every bride wants to look beautiful on their special day, but some go to extreme lengths to stand-out from the crowd.

One self-confessed “bridezilla” admitted to her bad behaviour in a first-person piece for women.

She admitted to secretly fattening up her siblings so she could outshine them at her wedding.

The lass confessed: “I set about making sure my sisters looked as ordinary as possible on my big day – well, as much as I could without being totally obvious about it.”

As her sisters are fair-skinned and blonde, she demanded the bridesmaid’s dresses were a neon yellow colour to make them look “washed out and slightly ill”.

And she confessed the “worst” thing she did before the wedding day was lie to her sisters about a slimming smoothie, which she used to secretly fatten them up.

Every morning she insisted on making breakfast smoothies saying she wanted them all to look their best, acting like a “picture of sunshine and morning glow”.

She added: “I even went as far as buying a weight loss shake and emptying the contents, filling it instead with a mega-weight gain protein powder I found in a bodybuilding shop.”

The bride’s plan worked and her bridesmaids had to alter the dresses for their larger waistlines.

Although the day went “without a hitch”, she sometimes feels a twinge of guilt looking back at her wedding snaps, where her sisters were chubby.
