Billie Eilish on Lady Gaga’s infamous meat dress: ‘Yikes’

Billie Eilish is catching heat from the Little Monsters.

In a recent interview with Variety, the “Bad Guy” singer, 17, and her brother Finneas discussed famous red carpet looks including those from the Grammys, since Eilish has been nominated for six awards this year and will be attending the ceremony for the first time in January.

However, when it came time to talk about Lady Gaga‘s infamous meat dress from the 2010 MTV VMAs, Eilish summed up her opinion with a single word: “Yikes.”

Her negative reaction is likely due to the fact that Eilish is a vegan, which many of her fans pointed out on Twitter after the hashtag #BillieEilishIsOverParty started trending. However, Gaga, 33, has repeatedly said that she wore the beefy look to protest the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

“It’s certainly no disrespect to anyone that’s vegan or vegetarian,” Gaga told Ellen DeGeneres at the time. “As you know, I’m the most judgment-free human being on the Earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening it’s [saying], ‘If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.’”

Despite backlash against Eilish, many jumped to her defense as well. “Billie Eilish is being cancelled because she said gaga’s meat dress was weird? newsflash gaga fans, we ALL thought it was weird,” one person tweeted.
