Co-op starts selling Easter eggs three days after Xmas and people are not happy

The Christmas period may only just be coming to an end, but one retailer has already set its sights on the next major holiday.

Pictures show how this store in Cottingham, East Riding Yorkshire, has already lined its shelves with Easter eggs just three days after Christmas Day.

The  Co-op store in Crescent Street already offering Easter confectionery with Cadbury's Mini-eggs, Smarties eggs, Maltesers Bunnies and Cadbury's Creme Eggs already on sale.

It is still almost four months until Easter which takes place on April 12 in 2020.

One person posted: "Would you believe it. Co-op selling Easter eggs already!"

Another social media user also : "What is wrong with all retail companies? Please let us enjoy Christmas, I think it is GREED with them."

Cadbury's Buttons Eggs are an sale for £3.49 while you can grab a Smarties Egg for £1.70.

With many people still trying to burn off those Christmas calories then it would seen unlikely that these eggs will be in high demand.

However, it seems discount store B&M also failed to get the memo and was also offering Easter chocolates earlier this month.

One confused shopper spotted Cadbury's Mini Eggs, Galaxy Enchanted Eggs and Kit Kat chocolate bunnies on sale in B&M's Sealand Road branch in Chester, as first reported on Cheshire Live .

But B&M isn't the only retailer selling Easter essentials already, with hot cross buns available at Waitrose , Tesco and Sainsbury's .

However, most supermarkets are known to stock them all year round.
