Harry and Meghan break from six-week holiday to highlight charity

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle break from their six-week holiday AGAIN to highlight charity for wounded veterans with Instagram snaps

  • Prince Harry, 35, and Meghan Markle, 38, shared another Instagram post today
  • Highlighted work of the Endeavour Fund, which was created by Duke of Sussex
  • Couple shared the post despite being on a six-week break from royal duties

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again broken from their six-week holiday in order to highlight the charity he set up with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, for wounded veterans.

The Duke, 35,  and Duchess of Sussex, 38, posted snaps on their Instagram page to highlight the Endeavour Fund, despite being on a six week break from royal duties.

In the snaps, which are from the charities awards at London’s Draper’s Hall in February, Harry and Meghan can be seen passionately giving speeches before presenting awards to the winners.

Other photos highlight several veterans excelling in sporting activities – including one of the Armed Forces Paralympic snowsports team.

The Duke, 35, and Duchess of Sussex (pictured), 38, posted the snaps on their Instagram page to highlight the Endeavour Fund, a charity created by Prince Harry to support the Armed Forces community

As well as the snaps of them giving speeches, they also shared a previously unseen picture as they posed alongside nominees and guests at a pre-ceremony reception.

The couple wrote alongside the pictures: ‘Spotlight on: Endeavour Fund. Today we are taking a look back at the amazing work done by the Endeavour Fund, an organisation created by The Duke of Sussex to support the Armed Forces community.

‘His Royal Highness was motivated by the ambitions of wounded, injured and sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans across the UK, who wanted to use sport and adventurous activity as part of their recovery. And what they choose to take on is extraordinary!’

The couple also shared a snap as they posed with a group of nominees together at a reception ahead of the awards

‘These men and women break global records and set goals for those around the world – non-disabled and disabled alike, including the first amputee to cross Greenland icecap unsupported, the first triple amputee to qualify as a rescue diver, the fastest unsupported rowing time across the Atlantic, and so many more.

‘The endeavours they take on are inspirational, but also have a tremendous impact on their physical, emotional and social recovery, as well as a lasting effect on the family and community around them.’

It went on: ‘As The Duke said, “The magic of the Endeavour Fund is that it enables those who had life changing injuries in their prime, many of whom felt defeated, to use the power of sport to find a new purpose.

‘The renewed self-belief we see in everyone who participates, and how this transforms their lives and the lives of those around them is overwhelming.

The couple also shared a handful of other pictures, including including one of the Armed Forces Paralympic snowsports team

‘Beyond that, each man or woman who participates uses their endeavour as an opportunity to raise funds for another serviceman or woman who needs the same support they once did. It’s a powerful and meaningful process that I am so proud to be a part of.”

The Endeavour Fund was launched in 2012 by the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, in order to fund inspiring projects aiding the recovery of veterans.

In February, Harry and Meghan chaired the judging panel which chose the winners who will be announced at the event staged at Drapers’ Hall in the City of London.

It is the second year running that the couple have jointly attended the Endeavour Fund Awards, with their 2018 appearance being one of their first official engagements before their marriage.

In another picture, British and American athletes can be seen competing in the Invictus Games

Unlike other messages shared by the royal couple, the post featured British spelling, suggesting it was not written by the Duchess of Sussex.

A post shared at the start of December referred to the ‘holidays’ instead of Christmas.

And earlier this year royal fans pointed out that several posts use the US spelling ‘organization’, rather than ‘organisation’ and ‘programs’ rather than ‘programmes’.

There have also been instances of dollar signs being used rather than pounds.

Prince Harry and Meghan are understood to be in the US with their seven-month-old son Archie, where reports suggest the couple spent Thanksgiving with close family.

Despite their break, Meghan continues to lend support to causes important to her, and shared a pre-recorded message for the launch of Uyinene Mrwetyana Foundation on Friday.

The Duchess had visited a memorial to South African student in September during the royal tour, and tied a ribbon in memory of the 19-year-old.
