This morning on twitter, I saw a photo of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden photoshopped onto an illustration of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake's iconic all-denim VMAs look. I have so many questions and concerns but none of them are with the once-controversial Canadian tuxedo, which appears to be making the rounds in pop culture right now.
First, Adele uploaded a photo on Instagram preparing for her highly anticipated SNL appearance this weekend. In it, she is wearing head-to-toe denim.
The very next day, Katie Holmes was spotted out and about in Manhattan wearing loose boyfriend jeans and a denim patchwork jacket. Maybe she was inspired. Maybe she's just like the rest of us and has no desire to wear anything other than jeans. Whatever the case, Holmes definitely put the controversial back in Canadian tuxedos by styling hers with a newsboy cap.
I can't remember the last time I've ever seen a newsboy cap. Probably in Scorsese's The Irishman. It's the kind of accessory I envision Robert DeNiro wearing to get his morning bagel and coffee. Newsboy hats were definitely not on anyone's fall trend forecast but they are an unexpected accessory that'll make any outfit unique, I'll give them that. And if anyone can bring them back in 2020, it would be Katie Holmes.
