Katy Perry has been doing a media blitz to promote her album “Smile,” due Aug. 14.
So, while much has been made of her historic feud and eventual reconciliation with Taylor Swift, Perry cannot be overjoyed with Swift releasing a secret new album overnight.
Pregnant Perry, whose baby girl with Orlando Bloom is also due next month, told Howard Stern, “This record has been interesting to put out in general because it’s during, you know, Looney Tunes times. It’s during a pandemic, a racial revolution, an election year. I’m delivering a baby delivery around the same time.”
Perry even told Stern about how she and Swift made up. “What I’m so grateful for is we did get to make up publicly and got to be an example of redemption for young girls,” she said.
Swift announced on Thursday she’s dropping an album, “Folklore.” Swift said of her canceled tour and surprise album: “Most of the things I had planned this summer didn’t end up happening, but there is something I hadn’t planned on that DID happen.”
Reps didn’t comment.
