Lidl's selling 100 Valentine's Day roses for £25 – £335 cheaper than Interflora

LIDL is selling a ginormous bunch of 100 red roses for £25 – and they’re £355 cheaper than luxury florist Interflora.

The Lidl version works out at 25p a rose and it’s the cheapest bouquet of this size that we’ve seen in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.

In comparison, the bunch of 100 roses from Interflora costs £380, which is the same as £3.80 per flower.

You’ll also need to pay £7 for next day delivery if you want the flowers in time for tomorrow.

Alternatively, you can click and collect for free if you live near one of Interflora’s 1,200 local florists across the UK.

The Lidl roses are only available in-stores, so you can’t order them online.

The supermarkets are generally the cheapest place to go if you’re looking to save some cash, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll last the longest.

The majority of high street retailers sell short-stemmed “sweetheart” roses, while florists tend to sell ones with long stems and bigger heads.

Lidl doesn’t list what exact type of roses are used in their 100 bouquet – we’ve asked them for more information and we’ll update this story when we know more.

Interflora says the flowers they use are premium, long-stemmed, large-headed roses that have been grown in "optimum conditions" to ensure their petals and stems are of the highest quality.

A spokesperson also said their arrangement measures 60cm by 60cm, although it isn't clear how big the Lidl one is in comparison.

Interflora told The Sun: "We understand how important Valentine’s Day is; it’s the ultimate display of love and we know it has to be right.

"That’s why we’ve selected the very best Freedom red rose for all of the rose bouquets and arrangements in our Valentine’s Day Collection.

"Each rose is conditioned with care and lovingly crafted into a gift created especially for the recipient."

If 100 red roses is too much, we've rounded up the cheapest flowers you can buy for your loved one for February 14.

Aldi is selling 10 roses for £1.99, while Asda isn't far behind on price with their bunch costing £2 – although their website doesn't say how many you get.

In terms of fancier bouquets, Asda is also selling 18 red roses for £10.

Surprisingly, prices actually drop on Valentine's Day itself as supermarket try to shift surplus stocks.

However, there's no guarantee that they'll be any flowers remaining if you leave it until the last minute.
