We officially have a UK release date for the latest John Green adaptation Looking For Alaska, and we can’t wait to dive right in.
The new drama series has attracted huge levels of attention since it was first announced in May of last year, with the trailer amassing nearly seven million views in just two weeks. The book had initially been touted for a film adaptation in 2015, but the project fell apart and was “shelved indefinitely” back in 2016. So it’s safe to say the new series has been a long time coming.
Adapted for TV by American streaming service Hulu (which also produced The Handmaid’s Tale), the drama series is coming to the UK via BBC Three, and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer later this month.

What is Looking For Alaska about?
Looking For Alaska is a drama series adapted from John Green’s young adult novel of the same name, which follows the story of Miles Halter as he leaves his high school in Florida to attend Culver Creek Preparatory High School in Alabama for his junior year, where he meets the eponymous Alaska Young.
As romance blossoms between the two teenagers during Miles’ time at the boarding school, a tragic accident threatens to change their lives forever. We can’t say much more without spoiling the story (and no one wants that), but it’s one full of twists, mystery and disaster. Cheery!

Who is in the cast of Looking For Alaska?
Charlie Plummer (who has appeared in films such as All The Money In The World and Lean On Pete) stars as Miles Halter alongside Kristine Froseth as Alaska Young. You’ll probably recognise the young actress from her role as Veronica in the Netflix film Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, or for her recent appearance as Kelly in Netflix original series The Society.
What other John Green books have been made into films or TV shows?
Award-winning author John Green has seen two more of his books adapted for the screen, both of which were released as films rather than TV series.
In 2014, one of his most popular novels The Fault In Our Stars was adapted into a film starring Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley. The book from which the film was adapted was originally published in January 2012, and follows the story of two teenagers living with cancer.
Paper Towns was the second John Green novel to be adapted in 2015, starring Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff.
