If you’re looking for a low-cost version of your favourite high-end beauty product, you can pretty much guarantee Aldi will have you covered with a bargain alternative. Just this week the supermarket went viral with a new “dupe” for Bobbi Brown’s iconic Face Base primer. Now, Aldi’s Lacura is back with another deal to knock fragrance lovers’ socks off.
The newly-launched Lacura Guardian EDP, £5.99 in stores, is being touted by shoppers as a low-cost alternative to Mugler’s Angel EDP,from £80 here. Though the two share similar notes, you would save yourself £74 by shopping Aldi’s version.
The Lacura spritz boasts notes of saffron and iris, with undertones of papyrus and heady vetiver. The brand describes it as “deeply woody and sensual”. Similarly, Mugler’s Angel offering combines woody and floral with notes of bergamot, warm amber and patchouli.
The new launch has already made it onto TikTok, where thrilled bargain-hunters have been sharing their joy at finding a lower cost alternative to the high-end perfume. Some are saying they’re “obsessed” with the smell of Aldi’s version, while others are remarking on the likeness of the two fragrances.
The Angel-like scent isn’t the only perfume offering available in the new Lacura luxe-for-less range. This week, two new scents launched alongside it: Lacura Luxe – similar, Aldi says, to Marc Jacobs Decadence – and Lacura Floral Love, similar to Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. Both are retailing at just £5.99 in stores nationwide.
As with all of Aldi’s Specialbuy beauty products, these scents won’t be on shelves for long, so head to your local Aldi soon to snap one up. They’ve officially launched in stores (not online) this week but stock is subject to availability.
