McDonald’s worker spills the beans on how warm gooey cookies are made

A McDonald's worker has joked that customers are being "scammed" by the brand's famous warm soft-baked cookies – but fans do not agree.

In a TikTok video, user @mcdanksbitch walks down a corridor and opens up an industrial-sized refrigerator full of cardboard boxes.

He then shows viewers stacks of cookies inside the boxes, packed up in plastic containers and holds them up to the camera.

It turns out, the warm cookies are bought in pre-made and then warmed before being served to customers – but McDonald's has never claimed to freshly bake them so most people didn't think it was a big revelation.

The video has been watched more than 3.1 million times and received more than half a million "likes" but loyal Maccies customers were not fazed and many said they already knew the cookies were not baked in-store.

One person commented: "Scammed? It’s a dollar and you get a whole tote of them for cheap too.

"Also, y’all warm them up and it makes them taste just as good."

A second viewer said: "They still smack though. So it doesn’t matter to me."

"They be hot and good tho," said someone else.

Another fan asked: "OK but what’s the name of the cookies of the cookies you use because they’re good?"

One former Maccies worker did seem surprised by the change away from freshly-baked cookies and commented: "Wait when did they switch?

"I worked at McDonald’s in 2004 and we had frozen dough we had to bake."

This comes after McDonald's added six new items to its menu including the tasty-sounding Chicken BBQ Smokehouse burger.

It is filled with chicken, smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, and smoky bacon rashers, rolled into a delicious ciabatta-style bun.

Daily Star has approached McDonald's for comment.
