Naomi Osaka Says She Had a ‘Really Productive Offseason,’ Is Ready for Success at Australian Open

Naomi Osaka is ready to win another Australian Open title.

The 23-year-old tennis champion, who spoke with PEOPLE about appearing in Levi's new "Beauty of Becoming" series, says she used the offseason to prepare for the upcoming Grand Slam tournament — and she's feeling good about it.

"I've had a really productive off season training so I'm looking forward to seeing where my level is at in Australia," Osaka says. "I love the people and the culture in Australia, so it's a really fun time of year."

As the pandemic continues around the world, and many people's lives have been disrupted, Osaka sees how lucky she is to get to continue to play tennis.

"It's been such a difficult time for so many people," Osaka tells PEOPLE. "I'm grateful to have been kept busy and able to work. Not everyone has been so fortunate."

Osaka previously revealed she had arrived in Australia two weeks ago and was quarantining as was mandated for players participating in the tournament for COVID-19 safety.

Osaka previously won the Australian Open in 2019, defeating the Czech Republic's Petra Kvitová in three sets.

The 2021 Australian Open will begin on February 8.
