A chef who trained in Michelin Star restaurants has revealed the secret to making your own Oreos in the run up to Christmas.

Jonny Marsh, from Manchester, who has made career out of cooking for the rich and famous, has recently turned his attentions to filming the perfect festive how-to guide.

The 29-year-old’s latest insight delves into the world of sweet treats as he teaches viewers how to create the perfect Oreo in an Instagram video.

How to make your own Oreos

Biscuit Mix

  • 190g flour
  • 160g cocoa powder
  • 230g butter
  • 300g sugar
  • 110g brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

 Cream Filling

  • 60g unsalted butter
  • 50g vegetable shortening
  • 200g sugar
  • Vanilla extract

Instructions

1.  Place all the the ingredients needed for the biscuit mix into a bowl and whisk into a dough

2. Wrap the mixture in clingfilm and set aside to cool in the fridge

3. Next mix your ingredients for the cream filling until thickened and scoop into a piping bag

4. Retrieve your biscuit dough from the fridge, roll out and cut into disks

5. Place the disks on to a baking tray and cook in the oven for seven minutes at 165 degrees

6. Take them out and place onto a wire rack to cool

7. Next begin piping the filling on to one of the disks before placing another over the top to create a ‘sandwich’

8. Gently squeeze together and serve!

Jonny has worked out how to recreate the sandwich-style cookie – which consists of two wafer-style disks filled with sweet cream – at home.

He spoke exclusively to FEMAIL about the inspiration behind his homemade creation.

The private chef said: ‘I decided that I wanted to do something that people would want to eat, relate to and have fun making!

‘But it was also about creating Christmas treats that can be made with kids to keep everyone busy.’
