Antoni Porowski may be an expert on “Queer Eye,” but his domain is clearly not beauty.
The food and wine guru, 35, spoke with Into the Gloss about his grooming routine — and some of the anecdotes were a bit alarming.
Despite an arsenal of pricey products that includes cleansers from Aveda ($62), Tata Harper ($84) and Suzanne Kaufmann ($45) along with a Tom Ford moisturizer ($112) and a La Prairie SPF ($200), just to name a few, Porowski likes to skimp on hair products.
“I only wash my hair every 10 days to two weeks with shampoo because it gets poofy — usually I just use hot water,” he said.
Antoni also achieves his current aesthetic, which he describes as “celebrity walking through the airport in the ‘90’s — specifically Brad Pitt, when he had cargo pants and long hair,” with finishing cream from Jen Atkin’s Ouai ($24).
Porowski, skilled at brewing his own soups and teas in the kitchen, even tried to DIY his own salt spray using ocean water from the Rockaways, to terrifying results: “I started using it in my hair, and after a couple weeks, my roommate noticed my head smelled like rotting chicken carcass. I didn’t realize that ocean water goes bad!”
