Let’s face it, the only good thing about sitting on a plane is the fact that it’s taking you away from this dreary little island (let’s not even talk about the return flight).
From uncomfortable seats to rowdy passengers, flying is probably one of the least enjoyable experiences. That is for us peasants who can’t afford to fly business.
Part of that is to do with the fact that nobody seems to give a damn about flying etiquette.
From getting too drunk on the flight to hogging both arm rests (shame on you) Skyccanner has identified the UK’s biggest pet peeves when it comes to flying.
A survey of 2,000 UK adults found that drinking too much alcohol on the flight is the biggest bugbear, followed closely by cutting queues and reclining your seat while food and drinks are served (seriously, if you do this, what the heck?).
Interestingly, two fifths said that reclining your seat at any point in the flight is a huge no no, which we think is a little unfair, but what can you do?
While a third of people hate it when passengers stand up as soon as the plane lands, 17% of us admit to doing exactly that. Again, we kind of get it – no one wants to be trapped in those things for any longer than necessary.
The top 15 travel faux pas
If you’re guilty of any of these, don’t worry, there’s still time for redemption.
If you want to be a better passenger, there are some things you can do, like asking the person behind you if they mind you reclining your seat before doing so – something that 74% of flyers would appreciate.
The majority (81%) would support a rule banning passengers from reclining their seat while food and drinks are being served, but for now, just don’t be an idiot. If the trolly is coming round, sit up straight.
