This easy cooking hack peels potatoes in seconds so your mash is always perfect

Are you a foodie, but hate spending ages in the kitchen?

Or, perhaps it’s just the monotonous cooking tasks – like peeling spuds – that drive you round the bend?

If you’re looking for a way to speed up your mash or roasties prep then this hack could be the one for you.

It helps you peel your potatoes in seconds…

Sounds good right?

All you’ll need is your potatoes, some salt (optional), water, ice, a pan and a bowl.

First thing’s first, wash your potatoes and pick out any eyes – that’s the little brown hole-y bits.

Next, chuck the spuds in a pan of boiling water and add a spoon of salt for flavour.

Boil the potatoes until tender as you normally would for mash – this should take between 15 to 25 minutes depending on the size of your potatoes.

You can check if they’re done by inserting a kebab stick and seeing if it easily slides through.

When they’re nearly done, put some ice into a bowl.

It doesn’t need to be loads, but a handful or more is best.

Top the bowl up with cold water and add your potatoes to the bowl.

Within seconds you’ll see the skin begin to wrinkle slightly.

Leave the potato in the water for a minute and then grab one and the skin should slide right off.

Now you can go ahead and mash the peeled potatoes, or chop and add to oil for roasties.

Easy, free, and effective.

We gave this hack a try over at Daily Star Online and have to say it worked perfectly!

Just make sure the potatoes are covered with water on both sides as any skin peeking out of the hot water won't slip off.
