South African woman desperate to find a brother she had never met takes to Twitter to track him down – only to find he’s been living 30 minutes away

When a woman tweeted about how she hoped to find her brother she didn’t expect to come face to face with him the very next day.
Sanelisiwe Sani Xaba, 27, from Johannesburg, tweeted his name and some details about the brother she had never met after he had been taken away by her father before she was born.
The poet tweeted: ‘If your name is Musawenkosi, Sinenhlanhla Dube/Mthembu. Your mother is Sizakele Mthembu from KZN and born in Gauteng (Chiawelo or Sosha)in 1984 (I think).
‘Please contact me – I am your sister. Please retweet and help me find my brother. I need him.’
By the miracle of Twitter her request actually worked and someone got in contact to say he was living just 30 minutes away from her.

And by the next day she gave her followers some good news: ‘Guys! I found him !!! We spoke on the phone a few minutes ago. Twitter is amazing! You managed it help me find him in a few hours… wow! Thank you everyone. We’re meeting today.’
Thankfully, a follower who recognised the name got in touch with Sanelisiwe and before she knew it, she was meeting her brother.
Sanelisiwe told the Metro.co.uk that she put the request out on Monday evening and by the next morning the retweets had led someone who had grown up with him to contact her.

‘I met my brother, who is 34, the very same day. I keep asking my boyfriend if it really happened. It only hit me the next morning and I just started crying in the bathroom. I was emotional the whole day.’

While others simply said ‘wow’ and how amazing her story was, another shared their story and said: ‘This is so amazing congratulations sis it has been 3 years since I found my siblings on Facebook I spent the whole night crying.’

Sanelisiwe knew that he was living in Johannesburg, so moved there in the hope of finding him and it just so happened that the siblings only lived half an hour from each other.
She added: ‘It’s the curiosity that made me search for him. I just needed him. And needed to know that he’s alive and warm during the winter and happy on his birthday, and in summer.’
She revealed that the siblings hugged and cried when they met and enjoyed a drink together. While her mother also thanked her for reaching out on Twitter for him and helping to reunite her family.
