After two years ago, Carly Boyd’s fiancé got down on one knee and asked her to marry him last weekend.
The couple were walking along Myrtle Beach in Arizona, where he had first asked her out two years ago.
Carly was overjoyed and said yes – but she was heartbroken at the prospect of not being able to share the special news in person with her grandfather, who is currently self-isolating because of coronavirus.
He lives in an assisted living facility because he has dementia and they aren’t allowing any visitors at this time.
Speaking to WSFA 12 news, Carly explained that she really wanted to make the effort to tell him about her special news, without putting him at risk.
Staff at Premier Living and Rehab Center came up with an idea to help.
They decided to pull the blinds, let Carly walk around the building and she could explain and show him the ring through the window.

He came to the glass and she showed him her ring before they touched hands through the window.
Carly said it was a very special moment for her.
She said: ‘I got really emotional and really sad and I just put my hand on the window, and he put his there too.
‘I just told him I love him, and he said “I love you too and I hope to see you soon” like really see you.’
She hopes to get married next year, with her grandfather by her side.
