After losing in several categories, the hip-hop superstar finally take the stage to accept Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop for his Billy Ray Cyrus collaboration ‘Old Town Road’.
AceShowbiz -The 2019 American Music Awards has finally wrapped up after announcing the winner of the biggest honor of the night, Artist of the Year. Regina King proudly took the stage to reveal that Taylor Swift was the lucky one to be honored with the said accolade, and she couldn’t be more happier to accept the trophy and even hugged Post Malone on the way to stage.
During her acceptance speech, she seemingly mentioned her drama with Scooter Braun and her former record label Big Machine Records. “I really don’t have anything articulate to say,” she began. “Just the fact that the last year of my life has had some of the amazing times and some of the — just like the hardest thing that gone through in my life. Not a lot of them are things that haven’t been public.”
Thanking her fans being the “thing that has been a constant in my life,” she talked about how there are times when people like and hate you. “But the people who hang in there for you are the ones that you will never forget,” she added. “And the fans who have hung in there for 15 years of me doing this. …So on behalf of, like, my family and me, thank you so much for being there and for caring.”
Earlier in the night, Lil Nas X has finally gotten his first win after losing in several categories such as Collaboration of the Year. His joint song with Billy Ray Cyrus, “Old Town Road”, was named Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop, winning over Post Malone’s “Wow” and Travis Scott (II)‘s “Sicko Mode”. Meanwhile, Dan + Shay brought home Favorite Duo or Group Country and Favorite Song Country for their single “Speechless”. On the other hand, BTS (Bangtan Boys) nabbed Tour of the Year.
