RM is more than a triple threat. He can rap, he can write, he can produce music. He’s also literally a genius, with an IQ of 148. He’s appeared in BTS songs and written songs of his one, while still finding time to collaborate with artists like Lil Nas X for a remix of “Old Town Road.” Now, RM reportedly donated 100 million Korean won to music education causes, particularly for hearing impaired students. A South Korea specialized school received a donation from BTS’ RM
According to Billboard, the leader of BTS made a large donation earlier this month. RM, real name Kim Namjoon, donated 100 million Korean won, or roughly $80,000 to music education causes for hearing-impaired students. The donation went straight to a South Korean specialized school, The Seoul Samsung School, also known as the Samsung Deaf School. The donation was in made in honor of the idol’s birthday last week when he turned 25-years-old on Sept. 12.
“[RM] made the donation, expressing his will to help students with hearing difficulties enjoy music through various means,” a school official said, according to Yonhap.
This is not the first time RM from BTS did non-profit work
Together, BTS does a lot of non-profit work, even partnering with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Although their charity work can be traced back to the group’s debut, BTS partnered with UNICEF in November 2017, starting their “Love Myself” anti-violence campaign.
The Love Myself Campaign, according to their website, aims “to stage campaigns against violence toward children and teens around the world, with the hope of making the world a better place through music.” Since the foundation’s launch, BTS took their message to a larger audience. RM spoke on behalf of BTS at the United Nations, again sharing their message of self-love.
“After releasing the ‘Love Yourself’ albums and launching the ‘Love Myself’ campaign, we started to hear remarkable stories from our fans all over the world, how our message helped them overcome their hardships in life and start loving themselves. These stories constantly remind us of our responsibility,” RM said during his speech. “So, let’s all take one more step. We have learned to love ourselves, so now I urge you to ‘speak yourself.’”

Aside from the Love Myself
“If we helped your dream and your life a bit by our existence, our music, our performance, our pictures or videos, even if it’s not big if we could reduce your pain from 100 to 99, 98 or 97, that makes our existence worthy,” RM said during a concert.
BTS’ music, including their recently released album, Map of the Soul: Persona, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most streaming platforms. To learn more about the Love Myself Campaign and to donate, visit their website.
