Elvis Presley: Graceland chef reveals how to cook The King’s Sunday Meatloaf – WATCH

You’ve heard of the Elvis Presley sandwich, but did you know The King also loved to eat his family’s famous Sunday Meatloaf? In a new video, shot inside Graceland’s kitchen, Food and Beverage Director Daniel Clark showed Director of Archives Angie Marchese how to cook the meal just as Elvis liked it. In fact, Priscilla Presley has confirmed that at one point The King wanted his Sunday Meatloaf for every evening meal over the course of six months straight.

Graceland’s Instagram post read: “Looking for something fun to do at home?

“Step inside the kitchen at Graceland Mansion and watch chef Daniel and Angie show you how to make Elvis’ legendary Sunday Meatloaf!”

The recipe, which features in The Presley Family Cookbook, begins with a pound of ground beef.

The Graceland chef said: “Then we have a couple of slices of a regular loaf of bread.”

On the ingredients, he continued: “One teaspoon of salt, one teaspoon of black pepper.

“Half a cup of wheat germ (oat bran or ground flax can also be used), two cloves of garlic finely minced.

“Half a cup of celery, half a cup of onion, a couple of eggs and one can of tomato juice, which is about 8 ounces.”

Now it’s time to “take care of business “as Elvis would say.

Onto preparation and Daniel whipped the fresh eggs, adding them on to the meat with some salt and pepper.

Next, he added the finely chopped bread and the wheat germ.

Then the garlic, the celery and the onion, before Angie mixed it all with her hands.

After that, they spread the food into a pound-sized pan and added one cup of tomato juice spread on top.

On cooking, the Graceland chef said the oven needed to be at 375 degrees and when hot, to add the meatloaf allowing it to cook for exactly 35 minutes.

After the mouthwatering meal was ready he added: “This is comfort food and the family recipe book calls for mashed potato and a medley of vegetables.”

Last month, Daniel was filmed showing fans how to make the famous Elvis sandwich.

It’s also known as a peanut butter and banana sandwich and can come with bacon.

The sandwich was a favourite of Elvis’ hence how it has become so affiliated with him.

In another video, Angie revealed how The King once showed a maid how to make it just as he liked it.

Graceland is currently shut down due to the pandemic, but the Memphis mansion has been broadcasting videos like this from inside to keep fans entertained.

While the front of the house is being floodlit in the red, white and blue of the American flag until Graceland reopens.
