Charlotte Hawkins broke down in tears as she announced the death of one of her beloved family members.
Hawkins, 48, is a regular face on ITV morning show Good Morning Britain, having joined the team when the show started in 2014. But on a show in August, Hawkins became emotional as she opened up on her grief as she revealed that her rescue dog Bailey had passed away.
Speaking about her late pet who passed away at the age of 16, she soon began to well up as she recalled fond moments between the two. Hawkins, who is avid supporter of the Dog Trust, had brought Bailey into her home with husband Mark when the dog was just four months old.

Reflecting on her time with her beautiful pup, former Strictly Come Dancing star Charlotte told OK! magazine that she was an integral part of the family. She added that she would eventually go, but the knowledge did not make the grief any easier.
"We knew we only had a matter of time with Bailey but the physical pain I felt when we lost her still took me by surprise," she said. "She was a really important member of our family and such a beautiful, special dog."
Journalist Charlotte also said that she has had to readjust herself as she constantly remembers that beautiful Bailey is not around anymore. She said that she misses "not hearing her paws on the tiles and thinking, ‘oh I have to feed the dog’, and remembering she’s not there".
Hawkins later branded her pup as "irreplaceable", but admitted that in time she would adopt a new dog to giver her love to. "I know we’ll have another pet at some point, we just have to work out as a family when it’s the right time," she quipped.
Charlotte and Mark's daughter Ella has asked for a cat to be brought into the family. However, with dad Mark not a fan of the feline friends, it seems there may be a fight within the family on the cards.
Her heart-breaking GMB moment came after then-host Adil Ray asked her an impromptu question on Bailey's sad passing. He offered his condolences to the presenter, offering her comfort as she broke down in tears.
"It's very sad, I'm getting upset now, sorry," Charlotte quibbled as she became emotional. "I didn't expect that, that's the thing, it's hit me really hard actually.
"Thank you to everybody who sent me a message because I have not been able to talk about it and I've had so much support from people," she added. "I think for anyone who has lost a pet, you know how much they mean to you – she was with us for 16 years, a beautiful, gorgeous rescue dog who we loved very dearly."
Good Morning Britain airs every weekday at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
