Lucy-Jo Hudson has returned to social media to share a health update after being rushed to hospital.
The ex-Hollyoaks star has revealed she has been diagnosed with chronic anaemia. 40-year-old Lucy-Jo took to Instagram last week with a snap showing her in hospital getting a double blood transfusion for an unnamed illness.
Lucy-Jo took a break from social media for six days before returning on Sunday (October 22) with an explanation. She assured followers that she has maintained a full recovery, and greatly appreciates all the support she received.

Lucy-Jo wrote: "Sooooo long story short, I was very short of breath last week, having chest pains and it turned out my HB levels were scarily low!!! They should have been between 115-155, and mine were 67….. my iron levels should have been 38-48 but they were 1.5!!
"I've been diagnosed with 'Chronic Anaemia. I’m still looking into what’s causing all of this! But thanks to the amazing staff at Salford Royal, I was immediately put on the emergency assessment unit and given 2 blood transfusions, my HB levels have gone up to 94 so I can breathe again, and my iron levels (now I’m on medication for that) are slowly going up, so my health is heading in the right direction!!!"
She finished: "I can honestly say I feel a million times better now…. I can’t actually believe how poorly I felt last week, and how I’ve managed to function all of this time!?"
Lucy-Jo is not the only member of her family that recently experienced a medical emergency, after her son, Carter, was rushed to hospital earlier this year. Three-year-old Carter arrived at A&E unable to breathe, when medics delivered a shot of adrenaline, and eventually identified his serious nut allergy.
The Leeds-born actress has since shared pictures to her Instagram stories of the road to recovery, including snaps of some delicious meals. Yesterday, Lucy-Jo posted pictures of roasted veggies and sausages, captioning the snaps "Not sure if it's because of my health scare recently! But I'm actually loving cooking… Can't believe I'm saying that".
Fans are glad to see Lucy-Jo on the mend, sharing support via Instagram comments. One dedicated fan penned a heartfelt message, "Sending you lots of hugs and get well soon vibes. Your such an amazing person, a fantastic mother. Sometimes we carry on without realising because we may have no choice…". Many others wished Lucy-Jo a speedy recovery.
