Inside Cameron Diazs life – £12m mansion, doesnt wash face and off the radar

Cameron Diaz was once Hollywood's It-girl before she turned her back on the glitz and glamour to focus on her mental health.

But as she turns 50 today (August 30), Daily Star is taking a look inside the star's life – from the enviable home and love life, to the reasons she quit the industry.

Before the blonde beauty burst onto the Hollywood scene in early 1990, she kickstarted her career with a modelling stint.

After posing up a storm for her modelling career, it was after the 1994 film The Mask when she rose to prominence.

At around the same time in the mid-90s, Cameron soon became a sex symbol and was then signed up to a list of iconic and beloved movies.

Cameron has starred in the likes of My Best Friend's Wedding, Charlie's Angels, There's Something About Mary, The Holiday, She's The One and Sex Tape.

Away from the red carpet and big screen, Cameron has lived an incredible life – so to celebrate her big 5-0, keep scrolling to learn more about the stunning star.

£12m mansion

Cameron lives a lavish life in an equally as lavish abode.

The actress and her beau Benji Madden upgraded their home in 2020 to a huge $14million (£12m) mansion.

Surrounded by famous faces, the area in Beverly Hills has homes owned by the likes of Vin Diesel, Gene Simmons, John Mayer and Kate Upton.

The couple paid the full asking price of nearly $14.7m (£12.5m) for their sprawling pad with a massive gate and full-time security, according to Newsfounded.

'Doesn't wash face'

"I literally do nothing," Cameron admitted on Michelle Visage's podcast Rule Breakers back in March this year.

"I, like, never wash my face. Twice a month if I'm lucky.

"I'll be like, 'Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right?' Like is that all I have to do? I'm just not in that place right now where it's where I put any energy."

She went on to explain: "For me, I just really wanted to make my life manageable by me.

"My routine in a day is literally what I can manage to do by myself."

Cameron then revealed how she had "absolutely" been a "victim to all of the societal objectifications and exploitations that women are subjected to".

Stepping away from the limelight

In 2018 Cameron announced that she had officially retired from acting.

After starring in a 2014 remake of Annie, Cameron took a step back from acting, but confirmed rumours four years later when she spoke to Entertainment Weekly for an interview about the Sweetest Thing reunion with Christina Applegate and Selma Blair.

Speaking to the her co-stars who were discussing "semi-retirement" she said: "That’s so awesome. I’m totally down. I’m semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies."

She later spoke to pal Gwyneth Paltrow, on her wellness podcast where she said: "I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself.' Which is a hard thing to face up to. I felt the need to make myself whole."

Cameron then later said: "I got a peace in my soul, because I finally was taking care of myself.

"It's a strange thing to say, I know a lot of people won't understand it, I know you understand it, but it's so intense to work at that level and be that public and put yourself out there."

Returning to the screen

Since her retirement, Cameron has slowly reintroduced herself back into the limelight.

In 2020, she even launched an organic wine brand, Avaline, with business partner Katherine Power – and is now a renowned wine expert.

And earlier this year she returned to the TV screen when she appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7, which was just a warm-up for the star to announce some huge career news.

Weeks prior to Cameron's 50th, back in June, it was announced that the retired actress would return to screens in an epic comeback.

It was announced that she would star alongside Jamie Foxx in the Netflix action-comedy Back in Action.

Speaking about her un-retirement, Cameron revealed that she felt "so anxious" but "excited" about her on-screen return.

Love life over the years

After starring in the hit movie There's Something About Mary, Cameron briefly went out with her co-star Matt Dillon – but the romance was short lived and the beautiful star soon set her sights on another high-flyer.

A year later she dated Jared Leto, with their romance lasting until 2003.

From 2003 to 2007, the blonde beauty dated singer Justin Timberlake on and off, although things didn't last and they split – allegedly after a music video and an "intense encounter" at one of Prince's parties

In 2015 though the stunning star found love with musician Benji Madden when the pair got hitched at her home in Beverly Hills, California.

They met via Nicole Richie, who is wed to Joel Madden – Benji's brother.

On meeting her husband, The Sun reported that Cameron recalled: "The first thing I said when I first met my [would-be] husband was, 'He’s hot'.

"How come I didn’t know this before? We had never been in the same circle."

In 2019 Cameron and Benji welcomed a daughter via a surrogate, before buying their sprawling £12million family pad in 2020.
