AJR recently announced that Jack Met contracted coronavirus (COVID-19) and, as a result, will not perform the remainder of the dates along with the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball. Here’s what we know about the “Way Less Sad” band.

This band is next up forever. AJR first gained popularity with its YouTube covers, later creating innovative original music.
Songs like “Burn the House Down” and “Weak” earned millions of streams on the music platform Spotify, with most songs co-written by brothers Jack and Ryan Met. (The eldest brother, Adam, recently received his doctorate degree.)
Recently, AJR gained popularity on social media platforms TikTok and Instagram for their 2017 track, “The Good Part.” Additionally, the “Way Less Sad” artists appeared at several dates with the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball.
That includes Z100’s concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, only “10 blocks” away from where the brothers grew up, as Jack explained to the audience.
Jack from AJR tested positive for COVID-19
AJR planned to perform at the Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and Miami venues in conjunction with the Jingle Ball. However, the band announced that one member tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) and would not perform due to safety concerns and quarantine protocols.
“We are disappointed to share that Jack has tested positive for COVID-19 and as protocol, our band is now in quarantine and will no longer be able to perform on the rest of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour,” AJR posted in a statement to their social media accounts.
“Jack is doing fine,” the post continues. “We are just super bummed that we can’t finish out the tour for our fans in Philly, DC, and Miami… sorry all.”
Jack later posted a picture of himself, confirming that he had “not too many symptoms.” AJR wouldn’t be the first band quarantining from the Jingle Ball tour, as Doja Cat reported that a member of her production team also contracted the virus. Just days later, Doja Cat also tested positive for COVID-19, also announcing that she would not perform for the remainder of the tour.
As an added layer of safety, Jingle Ball attendees at Madison Square Garden were asked to present proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering the venue. Some music fans wore masks as an added layer of protection.
AJR embarks on their Ok Orchestra Tour during 2022
Aside from performing in the Jingle Ball, AJR will play their own shows in 2022, promoting songs from the 2021 release Ok Orchestra. That includes a stop at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, located in Queens.
The next live performance featuring AJR will be at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino on New Years Eve. There’s also the second annual live-streamed concert event on Dec. 26, titled “One More Spectacular Night,” with tickets still available for purchase.
