Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale Amongst the Artists Seen Lip-Syncing to Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe'

Carly Rae Jepsen burst onto the pop music scene with songs like “Call Me Maybe,” since capturing the attention of celebrities like Justin Bieber and even Tom Hanks.

Here’s what we know about the “I Really Like You” singer and some of her music.

Carly Rae Jepsen rose to fame with songs like ‘Call Me Maybe’ and ‘Good Time’

For some, the song “Call Me Maybe” was the soundtrack of 2012. Jepsen released this song and its corresponding music video and, almost instantly, it gained popularity and the attention of several “A-list” celebrities.

Since her rise to stardom, Jepsen earned herself the nickname “Queen of Pop,” releasing upbeat songs like “Cut to the Feeling,” “Run Away with Me,” and “Party for One.” Hardcore fans know and love her for songs like “Too Much” and “This Love Isn’t Crazy.”

Jepsen collaborated with Jack Antonoff of Bleachers for “Comeback.” She even sang a new version of the Full House theme song for the Netflix spinoff series, Fuller House.

‘Call Me Maybe’ even caught the attention of artists like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale

Because of the success of “Call Me Maybe,” several other celebrities appeared in a YouTube video, published in 2012, lipsyncing to the hit. That includes Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Tisdale, each of them wearing silly outfits and even mustache sunglasses.

Years later, with hits like “Cut to the Feeling” acting as an iconic lip-sync number on RuPaul’s Drag Race and the artist appearing at music festivals like New York City’s Governors Ball, Jepsen has a complicated relationship with “Call Me Maybe.”

“For me personally, I think there was a time when it felt like this big weight to carry,” the artist said during an interview with NME. “I think the rollercoaster of my ‘Call Me Maybe’ relationship was like: ‘Wow, this is so fantastic!’ And then like: ‘No, this is terrifying!’”

“And then it got to a place where I was like, how am I going to move past this? But I feel like I shed all that fear with moving past Kiss into Emotion and then Side B,” she continued. “So by the time I was taking on this album, my relationship with the song was more about it being a fun moment in the [live] set versus something that I needed to feel challenged by.”

Justin Bieber appeared in 1 music video alongside Carly Rae Jepsen and Tom Hanks

For Jepsen’s “I Really Like You” music video, Toy Story actor Tom Hanks starred as the main character. There was even a cameo from Bieber. The singer danced alongside Hanks and Jepsen toward the end of the production.

In 2019, Jepsen released the album Dedicated. In the following year, she released Dedicated Side B. Most songs release by the “I Really Like You” artist are available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
