A toxic combination of bushfire smoke and pollen could keep Love Islanders trapped in the villa, bosses fear.
They say it could cause heavy asthma attacks. Scientists last week discovered a strain of the highly dangerous ragweed growing in South Africa.
Combined with the smoke pouring off Table Mountain, the air quality around the Cape Town villa could spark breathing problems.
Dr Dilys Berman, of Cape Town University, warned: “Increasing amounts of fine-powder ragweed in South Africa could exacerbate hay fever symptoms and asthma for the estimated 17million South Africans who suffer from allergies.”

He warned: “Its potent pollen has been problematic in the US for many decades.

“In recent years, allergy sufferers in Europe and South America have also come under threat as ragweed started to invade these areas.”
The wild bushfire on the iconic mountain near Cape Town was brought under control on Saturday after firefighters battled flames ripping across the bush for four hours with choppers dumping gallons of water on the blaze.
But the smoke pollution could still be hanging in the haze over the city – sparking fears that any more fires could force residents to seek shelter indoors.
ITV bosses would not comment last night.
