Matthew Perry’s death is being investigated by robbery and homicide police despite there being no signs of foul play at the scene.

On Saturday afternoon (October 28), the former Friends star died at the age of 54 after he was found unconscious in his Los Angeles home. Emergency responders arrived at his home after they received a call at 4.07pm from his assistant where it is believed the star had suffered a cardiac arrest.

But once the paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the actor dead in his hot tub. It is understood the Hollywood star returned home after playing a round of Pickleball when he sent his assistant out to run an errand.

But when they returned two hours later, he was found unresponsive in the pool, prompting them to call for help. Because the star was found underwater, he appeared to have drowned but no official cause of death has been announced yet.

An initial autopsy was later “deferred” while the state performs a toxicology report. Investigators said no illegal drugs were found at his property although prescription drugs were spotted inside.

It is standard procedure for the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division to investigate high-profile cases including famous actors, according to the TMZ. A spokesperson for the LAFD broke down the emergency call and told The Mirror: “Los Angeles City Firefighters responded to the 18000 block of West Blue Sail Drive at 4.07pm on October 28,2023, to find an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub.

“A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, the firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival. A rapid medical assessment, sadly, revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival.

“The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly,” they added. The famous actor was most well known for playing the fan-favourite character Chandler Bin no the hit American sitcom, Friends.

He is also an accomplished author who helped many people suffering with addiction when he opened up about his own struggles in his book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.

Since his tragic death, his famous friends and loyal fans have shared their heartfelt tributes, including his famous Friends co-stars. In a joint statement, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox and Matt LeBlanc told People magazine how devastated they were at the loss.
