Miranda Lambert to Dissect New Album ‘Wildcard’ in Apple Music Short Film

On Friday, Miranda Lambert will release her seventh studio album Wildcard. Next Monday, Apple Music will release an original short film that shows what it was like to be in the room making it.

A new teaser for “Behind Miranda Lambert’s Wildcard” is out today and shows Lambert discussing her roots, laying down tracks in the studio, and hitting the stage. She also sits for on-camera interviews where she dissects what she’s attempting to do with this album, which follows her hefty singer-songwriter effort, The Weight of These Wings, and tries to get back to a more electric sound. “Country is what I do, it’s who I am, it literally seeps out of my pores,” Lambert says, as the raucous strains of new song “Locomotive” kick in, “but I love rock & roll.”

Also featured in the film are Wildcard producer Jay Joyce (Eric Church) as well as collaborators Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Luke Dick, Liz Rose, Lori McKenna, and Hillary Lindsey.

Wildcard arrives November 1st and includes current single “It All Comes Out in the Wash” along with previously released tunes “Bluebird,” “Mess With My Head,” and the Maren Morris duet “Way Too Pretty for Prison.”

Lambert also recently had a semi-viral moment after a show on her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour last week, when she spotted a young girl in the crowd and pulled her up onstage. Through tears, both Lambert and the girl, named Remi, sang “All Kinds of Kinds,” with enthusiastic help from the audience. “Sometimes there is a face in the crowd that captivates you. Thanks for the tears, smiles & for being who you are,” tweeted Lambert, along with video of the encounter.
