It isn’t surprising that in the high-flying world of showbiz, plenty of celebrities have released their own sex tapes.
Plenty more still have sadly had theirs leaked without their consent – including the likes of Pamela Anderson and N-Dubz star Tulisa.
With Kim Kardashian’s ex Ray J insisting a second sex tape of the pair exists in a shoebox underneath Kim’s bed, it seems an apt time to look back at the celebrities you didn’t know released tapes – or those you completely forgot about.
From the mystery of a popular daytime TV couple allegedly having their sex tape leaked to Denise Van Outen's hell having her first time experience being filmed – we take a look at the most outrageous celeb sex tapes.
Reality TV star and fashion mogul Kim Kardashian was fairly outside of the limelight when her sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J was first released in March 2007 by Vivid Entertainment.
The vid, entitled Kim Kardashian: Superstar, saw her thrust unwittingly further into the limelight after she first appeared on The Simple Life alongside Paris Hilton – who we’ll get to later.
At the time, her family mounted urgent action to get rid of the tape, but it quickly spread like wildfire across the Internet.
Allegedly filmed while the pair were on holiday in Cabo, Mexico, Kim went on to file a lawsuit against Vivid for releasing it without permission – though she dropped the suit after acquiring £3.8million from the company alongside Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis.
Kim later claimed she was “high on ecstasy” while making the tape.
A second reel of apparently “unreleased” footage is also said to exist, according to Ray J, though Kim has continued to deny the claims.
The incident behind hit Hulu series Pam & Tommy saw Playboy star Pamela Anderson film a sex tape with ex-husband Tommy Lee.
The Baywatch actress – who has been married six times, and twice to the same man – was left shaken to the core in 1995 when the sex tape she’d filmed with Tommy on a houseboat was stolen from the couple’s home and distributed online.
Pamela went on to sue video distribution company Internet Entertainment Group, but finally entered into a confidential settlement with the company – meaning the tape was permitted to be distributed online.
It wasn’t Pam’s only sex tape – she also made a tape with musician Bret Michaels from Poison, with an abridged version landing online.
N-Dubz star Tulisa was left “devastated” as she admitted there was a sex tape circulating of her online back in 2012.
The former X Factor judge opened up in an emotional message to her fans – apologising for any offence caused, though the tape was leaked without her consent.
Tulisa was filmed performing a sex act on her ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards – AKA DJ Ultra – although he previously denied being the man in the video and shrugged off any responsibility for the leak.
Tulisa explained in a candid clip of her “intimate moment”: “I would just like to put it out there that this is the person Justin Edwards aka Ultra, who is my ex-boyfriend that has put it online and who is the other person in the tape.
“Justin was someone I was seeing from the age of 17 on and off for many years.”
The star went on: “This isn’t unexpected for me, about six months ago I got a call from a lot of mutual friends and people who know me and him, saying apparently he has this footage of me that he’s been threatening to bring out for whatever reason, whether it’s to make money or to ruin my career.
“I confronted him on this situation, he lied about it, he completely denied it and here we are today. The footage is now circulating online. As you can imagine I’m devastated, heartbroken. I’ve been in bits for the past few days.
“When you share an intimate moment with someone that you love and you care about and trust you never imagine for one minute that that footage may at any point be shared with the rest of the UK or even people around the world.”
In 2004, a private sex tape involving actress Paris Hilton and her former boyfriend Rick Salomon was leaked online – with Salomon later flogging a longer version of the tape.
Paris admitted she felt like her “life was over” at the time, telling Vanity Fair last year: “It’s always there in the back of my mind. When it happened, people were so mean about it to me. The way that I was spoken about on nightly talk shows and the media, to see things with my family was just heartbreaking.”
She said she was “in tears every single day” and didn’t want to leave her house after the infamous tape leaked.
Paris also confessed she was “kind of pressured” into making the video, adding: “It was like being electronically raped” when Salomon pulled out the camera.
Denise Van Outen
Dancing On Ice star Denise Van Outen confessed to The Sun earlier this year that she had been filmed by an older man losing her virginity when she was just 15 years old.
Denise refused to reveal the identity of the other party involved, though confessed the incident happened in the 1980s and was “very traumatic”.
She told the publication: “I’d never been ready before – but now I talk about a situation when I was 15 when an older guy who I actually lost my virginity to filmed us having sex without me knowing.
"He was older than me, and it was very traumatic afterwards. He knew my age, and he was 23, and he’d set up a dodgy camcorder in his bedroom without me knowing.
“It later turned out I wasn’t the only girl he’d done it to – and when it emerged a few years later, the police tore up the floorboards and found loads more girls had been filmed too. It was my worst nightmare.”
The sick tape resurfaced years later after Denise achieved the heights of fame – even after the case went to court.
Best known as Mini-Me in the Austin Powers franchise, Verne Troyer couldn’t resist filming a sex tape with his live-in girlfriend Ranae Shrider.
Clips obtained by TMZ show the couple semi-naked, engaging in a passionate snog with plenty of tongue on display before the clip cuts off.
According to the US publication, a third party gained access to the tape, with Kevin Blatt – the face behind brokering the deal for Paris’ clip – allegedly entertaining an £80,000 offer from SugarDVD to distribute it.
The late star, who had cartilage-hair hypoplasia, attempted to sue Ranae for releasing the 50-minute tape.
And though Ranae heaped praise on the actor – who died in 2018 – for his sexual skills, once revealing: “He wasn't short of sexy skills and tried his hardest to make up in technique what he lacked in size,” she wasn’t always so kind.
She once claimed the pair only “made love” six times during their relationship, and said of getting intimate with the actor: “To be honest, most of the night was horrible. I closed my eyes and thought 'charity work', meaning I was doing it for him and not me.”
Mystery TV stars
Prominent ITV stars who are said to be household names in the UK allegedly contacted their lawyers earlier this year when pictures and videos were shared via direct message from an unknown social media account.
The “intimate” videos were supposedly posted online, though torn down by lawyers soon after.
A source told The Sun at the time: “They would have been mortified by the leak.
"Their fans will have been horrified on their behalf to think their private content was online for anyone to see.”
The celebrities in question are thought to have appeared in some of the UK’s most iconic TV shows.
