Piers Morgan makes dig at Russia as hes banned from entering country

Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has revealed he is currently banned from entering Russia.

The outspoken broadcaster and Talk TV host, who has been known to declare his political views on Russia since the Ukraine invasion in February, took to Twitter to share the news with his 7.9million followers in a retweeted post.

The original tweet from Guardian reporter Pjotr Sauer read: "Russia has banned 39 more British journalists and politicians from entering the country, including Starmer, Cameron and Piers Morgan."

Retweeting the post, Piers, 57, quipped: "It wasn’t on my immediate vacation to-do list."

Sharing their thoughts on the tweet, fans quickly replied.

One person wrote: "Out of all the places in the world, from Cuba, Bahamas, Prague, Australia, US, Carribean, Turkey, Egypt, Seychelles, Italy etc etc, I can't think of many people that would think 'I know, let's go to Russia."'

Another shared: "Imagine and interview with old Vlad though? Get on it, Piers. It would be the interview to end all interviews."

Meanwhile a third penned: "Must be an honour seeing your name onside such greats though."

Providing further insight into the list of banned citizens, Russia's foreign ministry said those on the list, who were mostly politicians, government employees and journalists, "contribute to the hostile course of London aimed at the demonisation of our country and its international isolation".

The ministry added: "The choice in favour of confrontation is the conscious decision of the British political establishment, which bears all responsibility for the consequences."

Since the start of their military operation, Moscow has banned several dozen British citizens from entering Russia.

However the new additions appear to include several Labour MPs, Scottish politicians and members of the House of Lords.

Russia's foreign ministry has revealed that it will continue to add new members to the list which now includes more than 200 prominent Britons.

"Given London's destructive drive to spin the sanctions flywheel on far-fetched and absurd pretexts, work on expanding the Russian stop-list will continue," it explained in a statement.

Elsewhere, the Russian Prosecutor General's office said it had declared the Calvert 22 Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation located in London, is an "undesirable organisation".
