Sabrina Carpenter FaceTiming Saweetie Into a Radio Show to Talk About Their Song Is Iconic

Singer-actress Sabrina Carpenter and rapper Saweetie recently joined forces for the song, “I Can’t Stop Me.” Guest-hosting a radio show on Apple Music, Carpenter dialed up the Bay Area-bred rapper on FaceTime to talk about their music.

Sabrina Carpenter and Saweetie collaborated on ‘I Can’t Stop Me’

“I Can’t Stop Me” appears as a track on Carpenter’s fourth album, Singular Act II. Saweetie is the featured artist on the song, which was produced by Stargate, Tim Blacksmith and Danny D. Unlike most of Carpenter’s music, it features a trap beat and hip-hop influences.

Carpenter previously said, “I really wanted a female rapper on it, because I just felt like it fit the tone of the record. Saweetie took it to another level, and I love her. She’s really dope.”

What the duo said about the song and a potential video

Shortly after the release, Carpenter guest-hosted for Travis Mills on Beats 1. During her stint, she called Saweetie to chat about the song. On FaceTime, Saweetie said, “That [song] is one of the most sexiest fun songs I’ve ever done.”

“We have to make a video. I really honestly feel like we’ve had that song for so long,” added Carpenter. Saweetie’s been down for the video though. “I’ve been waiting for you. I’m just waiting on the treatment, girl. Whenever you’re down I’m down,” she replied.

Saweetie previously spoke about the collaboration

Of course, this isn’t Saweetie’s first time talking about the track. She spoke a few months ago backstage at 92.3 LA’s Real Street Fest. “She’s a really sweet girl. Super talented. She has a great personality. I love the song. I’m just happy to be a part of her album.”

Saweetie’s debut album is set for release in 2020. Carpenter has wrapped production on the upcoming Netflix film, Work It, executive produced by Alicia Keys.
